We're Half-Way Through the Trip

My high school reunion was fun. The organizers did a wonderful job and made a great information booklet they handed out. As a bonus, this year my grade school had a gathering of the class that graduated from TTHS in 1961.

We then headed for the FMCA Rally in Hutchinson Kansas. We were then headed for Flagstaff AZ, but while surfing the web I saw that the Balloon fest was starting in Albuquerque the day we left the Rally. So we made a stop on the way and are here now for two days.

We're Off Again

We returned from Florida and completed several Doctor Visits. Now it's time to travel again. We are headed for Chicago for my 50th high school reunion. then it will be on to Kansas for the FMCA Rally. We have booked a time share in Flagstaff NM for a week. we will then return to Texas for a Safari rally and then a TTofTX rally. We should get back to Garland in mid-November.

Off to Florida

It's time to see NASA from the other side. We went to NASA Houston while we were at the last rally, now we are going to the Kennedy Space Center to see the last shuttle launch.

When we first planned this trip the launch was to be on June 28th, before we left it had moved to July 8th. We couldn't change the time-share week we has in Titusville for the week of the 28th, so we just scouted the area for viewing locations.

The next week we booked (on the week of the 8th) was near Disney World. On the 8th we left early in the morning for the launch. The traffic was incredible, they said there were a million people there. But we got our view of the launch.

We spent the Fourth of July at the Magic Kingdom for the fireworks. The next day we went to Animal Kingdom.

We also have tickets for Universal Theme Park, not my favorite. All the rides there are either used to try to dislocate something or drench you. Maybe I'm just getting old.

We had two time shares here and two RV Weeks in Thousand Trails just to cover anything they did to the launch. We'll be starting to the Texas Heat on the 23rd of July.

Wings Repaired

I can drive again. this week we are at a ToS Rally in Highlands, TX. Today we're going to the Kemah Boardwalk for lunch then a NASA Tour.

Wing Clipped

A visit to the doctor revealed I had Moderate to severe Carpel Tunnel in my right hand. April 25 was set for the surgery. It's amazing how much you do each day requires two hands. all though I'm left handed, not having use of the right hand as left MH to a lot more things around the house.

I couldn't lift anything with my right hand untill May 10th and now I can lift 2 lbs.

Well, that should catch me up on this blog. I'll try to keep it current so it will be fun to read.

2011 So Far

The first of the year started with a TTofTX Rally trip to Lake Conroe. W miss our next TTofTX rally because both MH and I got broncities and spent most of the time coughing. It took me only one trip to the doctor to cure mine but it took two trips for MH.

On March 25th we took a Time Share week to Montgomery, TX for some R&R. Although we spend a lot of tome in that area going to TTofTX rallies, we don't spend much time exploring. So we visited some local sites this time.

On April 5 we went to a ToS Rally at whispering Pines RV park in Tyler, TX.

Things We Did Untill the End of 2010

We finally arrived back in Garland on September 13th. We left for the trip on June 4th so we were gone for 102 days. If it hadn't been for doctors appointments, we probably wouldn't have stayed in Garland for the next 2 weeks.

We're off again on the 29th of September for the Six-State rally in Shreveport, LA. The original plan was to have our Texans on Safari rally start soon enough after Six-State so we could just leave one and start the other. That was a good plan but the park wasn't available so we went home for two weeks before going to Durant, OK for the ToS Rally.

Then we went back home again for 10 days before traveling south to Lake Medina for our Thousand Trails of Texas (TTofTX) rally. After the rally, Rodger Donnelly had to go to Houston for an air conditioning job and took his RV to stay in while he was there. So we took Dianna to back to their home in Aubrey, TX and stayed for one night there before returning to Garland.

That was all of our RV adventures for the year. We spent the rest of the year doing stuff around the house.

Return From the West Coast

When we left Boise, Salt Lake City was next. We spent a week in the area visiting sites: The Golden Spike NHS, Brigham City Tabernacle, Antelope Island, Temple Square, and of course the state capitol.

On our way back to Texas we had a choice of many routes but most of them needed more time to visit then we had. So we chose the mid-Colorado route. We stopped at The Black Canyon of the Gunnison NP and Royal Gorge.

Now it was time to get back to Texas in time for the TTofTX Rally at Lake Whitney.

West Coast Trip Continues

We spent two weeks camping at Ocean City on the central Washington Coast. From here we took car trips to Olympic NP and the beautiful Olympic Peninsula. For two of the days we on the coast we went inland to Mt Rainier, Seattle (to the Space Needle for brunch), and to Fort Lewis to look for a house Mary Helen had once lived. We also took another to visit the Capitol at Olympia.

From Washington, we traveled down the coast to Newport, OR. We camped at Seaside, Cloverdale, and South Beach. On our way down to Newport, while in the coach, we visited Ft. Clatsop and the Tillamook Creamery. Another car trip took us to Salem to visit the capitol.

While in Newport we attended the Safari International Pre-Rally before driving to the FMCA Rally in Redmond, OR.

After the rally we traveled south to the Crater Lake Area. Camping in Chiloquin, OR we took a day trip to Crater Lake NP.

Now it was on to California and Sacramento to tour another capitol.

It was time to head east. First stop was Carson City, NV then on to Boise, ID to visit those capitols.

Let's Try This Again

Writing in this Blog reminds me of when my brother was in college. The family gave him a tape recorder so he didn't have to write letters home. Several times he said how dumb he felt talking to himself all alone is his room, not knowing if anybody would listen to him. I never knew if anybody was reading my blog or not.

We've done a lot of stuff in a year and a half. Including a trip to the west coast.

We started after our grandson's high school graduation and went to a Safari Trek rally in Amana Iowa, then over to Illinois to visit and old RV Friend. We went back across Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, and into Wyoming. There we visited Grand Teton and Yellowstone NP.

Those of you who know us, know we visit state capitols as we travel. After we left Yellowstone we headed north to Helena Montana to see the capitol and to Great Falls to see that Lewis and Clark site. From there we went across Idaho to Washington.
